iridule – something of a circle

hi.

my name is q akhavan zanjani. i could write this in third person, but i’d be lying to us both.

i spend most of my time writing music. the usual – i got a squier for christmas when i was 15, and the rest is history. i play guitar, sing, and can sometimes be found on bass or drums.

i’m now self-producing a post-rock album called the man who died – think heavy and raw – and getting to work on a softer solo ep, junewinter – think soft and raw. i come from heavy roots, but i’ll write in any genre from neo-soul to experimental rap as long there’s something to say.

i also play with the marianne collective as a guitarist / vocalist. our debut ep, which we still can’t figure out a name for, should be coming out in september – more on that soon.

i also also write and make art, hence the purpose of this website – general stuffmaking. i firmly believe that poetry is a pretentious and douchey medium, but there are two.5 collections on here (carrion soul / baharan and in my time away), and more to come. (if you want forgiveness, get religion). meanwhile, there are some fuckeries in prose (gyllasynta) and a demo of the soundtrack for a short film i’m making (for_john_whoeverthefuck).

all thumbnails are my own, usually in mixed digital / physical media.

over the next few months, this site should be amended with another prose publication, a physical art series, full demos of the man who died and another collection of poems.

gotta give the people what you know they don’t want.
